About Flipoclock.com

As you may have guessed, this website is all about flip clocks… and me! I am not all about flip clocks, but they are a big part of my life.

I started ‘messing about’ with flip clocks in the early years of the 21st century and have been doing that on and off up until around 2015/2016 when I officially opened up my store on etsy while subsequently also running a webshop as a part of my own (previous) website/homepage.

I have a passion for recycling, repurposing used items and also for clocks! I love breathing new life in old, forgotten and possibly discarded clocks and giving them a new lease of life with a new, loving owner. I do the same with vintage Swatch wristwatches, you can find these on www.swatchoclock.com

I restore clocks I source from all over the world and sell these in my shop, I can also restore your clock, take a look at the page about restorations to get some more info on that. Besides that, all clocks for sale in my shop, can also be rented as props for a show, theater production or a movie set, contact me for more details on that.

Are you looking for a specific clock or for parts for a clock that you already own? Do not hesitate to get in touch for I have numerous clocks here that I use for parts from which most parts are also for sale.

History on FlipClocks

The earliest flip-type-clocks have been around as early as the late 19th century with some revivals in the 1930s and especially in the 1960s and 1970s up until the early 1980s when digital clocks were already coming into full force, pushing the flip clock out of the market.

Essentially the most well known brand out there with regard to flip clocks is Copal, also marketed as Caslon. They came on the market in the late 1960s with the model 101, which was succeeded by the model 201, soon to be a very successful clock for Copal, many of them were sold. The model 101 tends to be a bit rarer so I do not have that one in my shop often, the model 201 I try to stock in different colors and also in European and US versions.

There is a Wikipedia page on flip clocks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip_clock) and there is a flip clock aficionado forum: www.flipclockfans.com

Flip clocks seem to have a sort of comeback in the early 2000s, but unfortunately most of the clocks were made cheaply in China and simply do not have the design nor the quality to last or become of historical significance.

Repairs

Obviously I restore my own flip clocks, that is the core of my business / shop. I can also restore or repair your flip clock(s) and have done so for a number of years already to a lot of people’s satisfaction.

Restorations
If you wish for me to restore your flip clock back to its former glory, please reach out to me through the contact form on the website and tell me what make/model of clock you have and what are the issues and what you want me to do with it. I will then assess the situation and get back to you with a quote for the work that needs to be done.

Repairs
Should you have a flip clock that has a defect or is missing some parts, I am more than likely the person you need to reach out to so that I can repair your clock for you to enjoy it once again. Please do reach out to me if you have any questions regarding this. There is a repair-item in the webshop that you can purchase, the cost of the item is EUR 95,00. For this amount you purchase an initial investigation and possible simple repair, no parts or shipping costs are included in this price. In some cases I am unable to fix the issue. In these cases, there will be no refund since I have already invested my time in your clock.

Parts
As you can imagine, I have lots and lots of parts clocks and parts for clocks, knobs, visors, motors, mechanisms, flaps, screws, etcetera. Should you be needing specific parts for a specific clock, do not hesitate to get in touch with me and I am sure I can be of service to you. Prices for parts generally sit between EUR 5,00 and EUR 100,00 depending on what you need and the quantity you need.

Prop Rental

Are you interested in using a specific clock from my shop for a production for theater, a commercial or perhaps even a full length movie but do not want to spend a big chunk of your budget on buying a clock which might be used only once? No worries, if you make sure that the clock arrives back with me in exactly the same working and cosmetical condition as I sent it out in, I am able to refund you the purchase price of the clock minus the rental fee of 6% per week. Of course you pay for the shipping back and forth.
Essentially this means you pay for the full price of the clock as a deposit and you are refunded this price minus what you use in rental fees.
The clock starts ticking for the rental fee as soon as the clock has reached its destination and it stops ticking as soon as you are able to send or show me a receipt that you sent it back to me. As soon as I have received and approved the clock, your refund will be processed.

Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or specific requirements.

There will be a prop rental agreement I will ask you to agree to and sign (and send back to me) before I can send out your rented clock.

Every clock in my shop is available for the prop rental scheme!

Warranty

Unless otherwise noted, all clocks in this shop are sold with a 6 months warranty. The warranty extends to the mechanical parts of the clock only. It does not cover my time, shipping costs or damages to the outside of the clock. The warranty of 6 months starts the day your parcel is marked as delivered by the postal services.

If you have bought a clock from me and at whatever point in time it starts to develop an issue, do reach out to me through the contact form on my website so that I can reach out to you to find a fitting solution.
